On November 9, The 9/11 Memorial & Museum presents A Life of Service: Recognizing Our First Responders.
10am: Representatives from the FDNY, NYPD and PAPD will place American flags on the memorial in the names of first responders who died on 9/11, who were also veterans.
12pm: The museum's auditorium will feature a live talk in The Stories They Tell series titled Strength & Honor: The Legacy of World Trade Center Steel. This talk uses a map of memorial sites in Afghanistan to explore some of the earliest and most significant post-9/11 missions fought by U.S. Special Forces.
2:45pm: Hear comments from General Carlton D. Everhart II, Air Mobility Command commander, and performances by the United States Air Force Heritage of America Band and the United States Air Force Honor Guard.
Additional 9/11 Tribute Museum Veterans Day events:
The 9/11 Memorial & Museum pays tribute to our country’s veterans during Salute to Service, a special five-day tribute honoring veterans, active-duty members of the military and their families. From November 8 to 12, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum will host numerous events and special programs for veterans and their families, as well as the visiting public. Throughout the tribute, veterans will receive free museum admission. Veterans will also receive half-price museum tickets for two family members during the tribute. Ticketing for Salute to Service will be available at a dedicated ticket table at the museum entrance. Programs taking place on the memorial are weather dependent.
Free admission will also be offered to veteran organizations participating in New York City's Veterans Day Parade. To coordinate your group visit and to confirm that your group qualifies, please email email@example.com.
