This program is designed for employers to learn how best to support veterans seeking jobs.
Join fellow NYC SHRM members and Edge4Vets, a veterans’ job prep program offered by the Human Resiliency Institute at Fordham University, as we examine Best Practices for Interviewing Veterans to start, improve or enhance your Veteran hiring program on November 7, 9am-noon.
This event will provide specifics to assist in preparing for and managing the interview process with Veterans. After this session, you will be able to:
- Understand the business case for hiring Veterans in a clear way
- Learn about the challenges that Veterans face when they return home and are conducting a job search
- See the gap in understanding responses when HR interviews Veterans
- Walk away with concrete tools to put into use immediately for conducting interviews
The day’s agenda features remarks from Tom Murphy, the Founder of Edge4Vets and Director of the Human Resiliency Institute at Fordham. The program will conclude by taking theory and putting it into practice with a role play dramatization by NYC SHRM Board Member Andrea Goldman, Director of Human Resources and Director of the Veterans For Employment Program at the Institute For Career Development and a Veteran participant in the Edge4Vets program. There will also be time for a Q & A session.
