A Conversation on Service-Driven Political Leadership
The Honorable Patrick Murphy is the first post-9/11 veteran to serve in U.S. Congress, and most recently served as Acting Secretary and Undersecretary of the U.S. Army. The Honorable Charles Rangel is a Korean War veteran and was one of the longest-serving members of Congress; he retired earlier this year. Join us for a special evening of conversation about veterans continuing their service in elected office, and the unique experiences of these veterans of different generations in their careers in public service.
This event will kick off the weekend of the NYC Veteran Candidate Workshop we'll be hosting on Saturday and Sunday, April 29-30, for veterans and spouses preparing to run for elected office.
Free and open to the public, but we welcome donations to help us provide the best possible training and experience for veterans and spouses learning to run for elected office.
The event will also feature:
Veteran Resource Showcase of local agencies and organizations offering access to healthcare, mental healthcare, and benefits counseling for veterans and their families
Hors d'oeuvres and wine, plus beer furnished by Backward Flag Brewing Company, a veteran-owned brewery
NOTE: Due to the anticipated demand of this event, ticket reservation is only valid until 5:10pm. Please plan to arrive on time.
