NAMI Homefront Education Program

The National Alliance on Mental Illness offers the NAMI Homefront Education Program on Tuesdays, 6-8:30pm, July 11 – August 15. This is a free, six-session education program for family, friends, and significant others of military and veterans with mental health conditions. It focuses on the unique needs of this community, such as post-deployment and post-discharge transitions.

The course teaches family member how to understand and support their loved one while maintaining their own well-being.

Topics of each session include: Introduction to Family Education, Biology of Mental Illness and Getting a Diagnosis, Understanding Trauma and the Overview of Diagnoses, Treatment Systems and Services, Crisis Preparation and Communication Skills, and Family Roles, Recovery and Self-Care.
