“It is an honor to support the Bob Woodruff Foundation and the team that leads the Foundation ensuring focus remains on service members and their families. Since creating the Foundation in 2006, Bob and Lee Woodruff have established a culture of caring, kindness and responsibility that exemplifies the type of organization that can positively impact the lives of our veterans. I look forward to working with Anne Marie Dougherty and the team she leads making a difference in an area so important to our country,” said Hnat.

Hnat joined JetBlue in 2001, and was named general counsel in 2003. In 2007, he was named executive vice president and corporate secretary. Hnat is responsible for legal, government affairs, compliance, and sustainability.

“James and JetBlue have long been valuable partners in our efforts to support our nation’s injured veterans, service members and their families,” said Anne Marie Dougherty, executive director of the Bob Woodruff Foundation. “We look forward to drawing upon James’ legal and business acumen to assist the board’s governance role, ensuring that we remain transparent and efficient as a leader in the veteran space.”

Since 2011, JetBlue has donated hundreds of flights to the Bob Woodruff Foundation, helping keep travel expenses low for the New York-based, national nonprofit.

Hnat received his bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from Boston University, and earned a doctorate in law from Notre Dame Law School. He is a member of the bar of New York and Massachusetts.
