The Washington Center (TWC) for Internships and Academic Seminars through their Veterans Employment Trajectory (VET) Initiative offers a summer internship program to gain experience on Capitol Hill and Washington, D.C. The VET Initiative has partnered with Student Veterans of America (SVA) to identify student veterans who want to gain public policy experience through a fully funded summer internship with their elected representative in Congress or with a Federal Agency. Explore public policy as a career and gain experience in the legislative process.
TWC has over 40 years of providing such empowering opportunities. They’re looking for student veterans to intern with elected officials from California, Connecticut, Minnesota, Ohio, South Carolina. You don’t have to be attending school in these states or call them home but you must have a desire to help veterans across the country. They seek candidates with an interest in veteran advocacy, foreign and national security policy, major political parties like the Democratic and Republican National Committees, and federal agencies like the Department of Veterans Affairs. They can also connect you with over 600 public, private, and non-profit sector organizations involved with any number of industries, policy issues, or advocacy. TWC will select 25 qualified student veterans to receive a full scholarship for program and housing fees, as well as additional financial aid to help offset living costs during the summer of 2018.
