The Sierra Club Military Outdoors holds a two-day volunteer and camping event on June 2-3 on the Appalachian National Scenic Trail. Veterans, active duty & military allies are invited to camp overnight.
Greeters will meet day hikers, volunteers, and campers at the Metro-North Hudson Line Appalachian Trail train stop to direct them to registration. Registration begins at 10am at Native Landscapes on June 2. Hikes and volunteer activities will start at 10:30am in the Pawling Nature Reserve and conclude by 2pm to allow volunteers and day trippers to return to the train station. Shuttles and snacks will be provided.
Overnight campers will carpool to the nearby campground for a free cookout and s'mores. On June 3, enjoy group breakfast before heading out for a day hike through a local family-owned farm along the Appalachian Trail.
Activities will conclude by 3pm on June 3. Campers must be 18 years old or accompanied by an adult.
