Join Sierra Club Military Outdoors as a volunteer Outings Leader on September 1-2. The class will complete the Sierra Club’s Outings Leader Training 101 and 201 requirements and provide you with the entry-level leadership skills and organizational knowledge to ensure you are set up for success as a volunteer Outings Leader. Upon completion, you will join a team of over 15,000 Sierra Club Outings Leaders located across the country.
The course focuses on risk management, trip planning, decision making, group management, and mindfulness training. Meet on for classroom training on Saturday (snacks and lunch provided) then spend Sunday training in Central Park (bring snacks). Training is a combination of classroom time followed by practical exercises on local trails. Dress appropriately for weather and expect to walk up to 5 miles on Sunday.

Saturday (Day 1) meeting time and location: 8am at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center (Bronx VA), Room 1B-07 (to the right of the cafeteria). Please arrive early, allow time for parking and security. Bring a notebook.
Sunday (Day 2) meeting time and location: 9am at the Duke Ellington Statue, northeast corner of Central Park. Again, please arrive early so we can begin training promptly.
