Have you experienced a head injury? Some people feel confused after hitting their head, feel they have “had their bell rung” or get knocked out. Some common causes of head injury are: blast or other combat-related injuries, falls, car accidents, and contact sports.
Are you concerned about your memory, attention, impulse control, and think these problems might be because of your head injury? The Military Family Clinic can help diagnose and treat TBI by providing individualized skills and strategies to improve day to day functioning.
They offer free and confidential treatment for veterans, with no wait list for services. Eligible patients include current members of the military and veterans of any era (regardless of discharge status).
-Comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation
-You receive a report which helps providers and you learn about brain functioning
-Shows patterns of a person’s cognitive strengths and weaknesses
-Suggests follow up services that could be helpful to improve cognitive functioning
-Individual and group cognitive training therapy
-Provides strategies to improve attention, concentration, memory
-Trains on use of organizational systems (e.g., electronic calendars) to help achieve goals
