The National Alliance on Mental Illness offers the NAMI Homefront Education Program on Tuesdays, 6-8:30pm, April 2-May 7. This is a free, six-session education program for family, friends, and significant others of military and veterans with mental health conditions. It focuses on the unique needs of this community, such as post-deployment and post-discharge transitions.
The course teaches family members how to understand and support their loved one while maintaining their own well-being. The trained teachers of this course are also family members who have experience with military culture and know what it's like to have a loved one living with symptoms of a mental health condition.
Pre-registration required by calling the helpline at 212-684-3264 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
