In honor of Veterans Day 2019, Warrior Writers hosts a wellness and creativity gathering in Philadelphia during November 9-10. The Veterans Day Weekend Retreat will bring together more than 25 veteran artists from across the country to participate in wellness activities such as writing, acupuncture, meditation, TRE (Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises), reiki, and massage.
The weekend will culminate on Sunday afternoon with a powerful public performance at The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts featuring veteran poets and musical collaborators including acclaimed musician and composer Luke Carlos O'Reilly Music.
This community-building retreat will support veterans through breaking down the walls of isolation and creating opportunities for self-care, culminating in a shared experience of public performance and dialogue with other veterans and civilian allies.
Limited travel funds for Warrior Writers veterans will be available - note your need through registration. Housing and food for Warrior Writers veterans will be provided. Housing will be available as early as Thursday (November 7) evening and stay until Monday (November 11). Most programming will take place on Saturday and Sunday. If you have to leave Sunday, plan to leave in the evening, as the performance will take place around 3-4pm. More info will be available in the following weeks at www.warriorwriters.org.
Please register here by September 30.
