Veteran's First Time Investor Program

The First Time Investor Program offers participants the tools to start down the path towards financial stability. Since 2017, 46 veterans have participated in FTIP, including Vietnam veterans and veterans of the first Gulf War.

Join Dion Powell, a community leader / organizer in the Bronx and veteran advocate at this great opportunity, March 3, 2020 - April 28, 2020 on Tuesdays, 7-8:15pm.

The program consists of a 9-session, 18-hour course that covers investment topics such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds, IRAs, retirement plan vehicles, and insurance. Participants learn about factors that impact the financial markets and how to create a diversified investment portfolio that begins the process of saving, investing and growing their personal wealth.

The FTIP program was created in 2002, and since that time over 600 people have participated. In 2017, one class per year was specifically dedicated for veterans. To take part in Veterans FTIP, participants must invest $500 of their own funds and Signature Bank will match that with an additional $1,000 (creating an initial $1,500 investment account). Participants open an individual investment account and receive two years of commission-free investment advice from an Investment Advisor who helps them to develop a personal portfolio.
