Veteran Burials and Memorials Guide

The Department of Veterans Affairs offers a guide on how to apply for Burial in a VA National Cemetery and for Memorial Products.

This guide will help you apply for burial in a VA national cemetery, a Government-furnished headstone, marker, or medallion for burial in a private cemetery, a Presidential Memorial Certificate and a burial flag for a loved one.

You can plan ahead to make the process of applying for a burial in a VA national cemetery easier for your family members in the event of your death.
To do this, you will need to apply for pre-need eligibility determination by completing a VA Form 40-10007, Application for Pre-need Determination of
Eligibility for Burial in a VA National Cemetery and submitting it to the address on the form. Veterans, spouses, Retirees, National Guard and Reserve members are encouraged to apply. However, pre-need eligibility is not required.
