Clemente Veterans’ Initiative Newark

The Cornwall Center at Rutgers University-Newark hosts a free college course for veterans - Clemente Veterans’ Initiative Newark. The course will meet ONLINE and explore themes of war and reconciliation through philosophy, literature, art, and history. It is open to all veterans, regardless of discharge status.

The course is free and seeks to serve veterans who are challenged by their transition from soldier to civilian, and who are looking for an engaged community of peers to explore great moments of history, art, philosophy, and literature.

Family members and friends of veterans are also welcome to apply. A high school diploma or GED is not required for admission.  Participants can earn 3 transferrable college credits.

The course will meet February 8-May 27, 2021 on Mondays and Thursdays from 6:30pm-8pm.

Applications will be accepted through January 25, 2021. Potential applicants can contact the academic director, Dr. Charity Anderson, at charity.anderson@rutgers.edu with any questions.
