The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is hiring rain garden maintainers.  This is a full-time temporary position that will last for 8 months.

Salary: $16.63/hour - 40 hour work week

The NYC DEP, in partnership with various City agencies, constructs green infrastructure, like rain gardens, to capture storm water and improve water quality in NYC waterways.  The majority of the rain gardens are located in Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx, and require special care and maintenance.  DEP is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of these green infrastructure systems, and is hiring people to conduct this job.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Assist in general maintenance work, including edging, seeding, snow removal, cultivating, fertilizing, trimming, sweeping, removal of sediments and raking of litter

Clean and maintain facilities including drainage structures

Drive vehicles and operate certain other motorized equipment

A NYS driver's license is required and must be maintained for the duration of employment.
