The Posse Foundation Veteran Program Recruiter Position

The Posse Foundation is seeking candidates for Recruiter for their Veteran Program.  This is a short-term part-time contract position based in the Posse NYC office.  There will be approximately 10-12 hours a week of work at $25 per hour between July and the end of October.

The Posse Foundation is a nationally recognized youth leadership development and college access program that identifies, recruits, and trains diverse teams - Posses - of public high school and post 9/11 veterans, and sends them to top colleges and universities.

The Posse Veterans Program identifies, trains, and supports veterans of the US Armed Forces interested in pursuing a bachelor's degree at top colleges and universities.  Those accepted into the program attend college as part of a team of veterans - a Veterans Posse.  Participants receive training prior to matriculating on campus, and mentoring once enrolled.  In addition, Posse partner colleges provide veterans in the program with supplemental funding to cover the full cost of tuition.

The primary task of the Recruiter will be developing lists of potential nominees using LinkedIn Recruiter, and following up with those leads with the goal of converting them to applicants.  Additional tasks could include:

providing supporting the Posse Veterans recruitment plan to recruit 175-200 nominees per University Partner (UP)

meeting program goals related to moving nominees through the Dynamic Assessment Process to result in 20-25 finalists per UP

developing nominating partners to include military bases, community colleges, and veteran serving organizations (VSOs)

conducting virtual information sessions to staff and veterans/transitioning servicemembers

conducting DAP interviews both in person and virtually

supporting Posse Veterans team in developing social media material to promote program


Bachelor's degree

Strong organization skills

Strong communication skills

Proficient with Microsoft Suite

Interest in veterans college access

Outreach and/or public engagement experience preferred
