The Army Installation Management Command is seeking an Army Community Service Specialist at Fort Hamilton in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. This is a full-time GS9 position with an annual salary range of $61,742 to $80,263.

Serves as Army Community Service (ACS) Multi-Functional Specialist at the installation level.
Assists Commanders with assessing, tailoring and prioritizing ACS service delivery in support of local military and family needs.
Develops and manages a variety of educational forums and briefings to assist serviced populations with increasing their knowledge of available resources.
Identifies, advises and consults with leaders on positive sustainable efforts that foster an environment of trust and responsiveness to various organizational quality of life issues.
Designs and establishes marketing and public relations strategies to ensure target populations are informed of available services and activities.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Position requires contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so. You will undergo specific background checks, investigation and periodic re-check to obtain and maintain a suitable determination.
Basic Education Requirement for Army Community Service Specialist:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as psychology, counseling, sociology and/or behavior science.
B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the federal service which includes: 1) Assisting in and/or communicating appropriate information and referral services to community resources for Soldiers, Retirees, Families, Survivors and/or Civilians; 2) Presenting, in part or in whole, briefings and/or training to customers; AND 3) Compiling and analyzing data to maintain statistics to complete various reports such as community needs assessment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
Education: Masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as psychology, counseling, sociology and/or behavior science. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
