Special Events Manager Position at The Resolution Project

The Resolution Project is seeking a Special Events Manager.  This is a full-time, permanent position with an annual salary of $60,000-$63,000.  This position will play a key, frontline fundraising role with a focus on identifying, cultivating, stewarding, and expanding corporate and other institutional funding.

Founded in 2007, Resolution's mission is to develop socially responsible young leaders and empower them to make a positive impact today. Through their Social Venture Challenges and Resolution Fellowships, they identify, fund, mentor, and support undergraduate students starting social enterprises to solve some of the world’s most persistent and challenging problems, from healthcare access to climate change. They believe that by empowering young people to bring local, scalable solutions to their communities, they can create a generation of socially responsible leaders committed to building a more just and sustainable world. Today, 500 Resolution Fellows, in 80 countries and 20 U.S. states, are implementing over 300 social ventures in high-impact fields such as sustainable development, gender equality, healthcare, and humanitarian relief. The candidate must have a flexible schedule, be prepared to join meetings and conference calls earlier and later than regular business hours, including some weekends, and be willing to occasionally travel when it is safe to do so.


Oversee and manage all fundraising, donor cultivations, stewardship, and community-building events

Work with leadership to determine annual special event strategic goals, revenue goals, track progress, and measure and evaluate events to inform future planning

Oversee the coordination of all special event logistics including venue selection; design and printing of event materials, including sponsorship materials; contract negotiation for services; vendor agreements and management; decorations; and technical support

Cultivate and manage event sponsor and attendee relationships with the goal of expanding Resolution's pipeline of annual and major donors

Manage the events budget and coordinate regular financial updates with the Director of Finance

Develop and maintain relationships with venues, catering companies, audiovisual specialists, florists, and other vendors according to event needs, preferences, budgets, and resources

Work with managers to determine personnel availability for staffing needs (while supplementing, if necessary, with outside support) and manage the team to execute the event

Work with the Communications team to create and manage event marketing communication plans, including print, web, social media, and mail mediums

Develop policies and procedures that ensure the smooth and professional operation of Resolution special events initiatives

Stay up to date on the latest event trends

Required qualifications:

4-5 yearos of professional experience, including at least some background in fundraising

Extremely organized, meticulously detailed, and always has at least one backup plan

Ability to work well independently, seek support, delegate, and escalate when needed

Skilled in managing complex events, and experienced with both event planning and day-of execution

Ability to lead fundraising events that generate revenue and meet or exceed financial goals which creatively convey Revolution's mission and programs

High level of professional communication with good interpersonal skills to work closely with donors, staff, volunteers, and International Fellows

Preferred qualifications:

Experience running nonprofit fundraising events

Experience designing and working with vendors to produce event materials

Experience running engaging virtual events

Adobe InDesign or similar proficiency, or willingness to train in software

Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Application Suites with a high level of of general computer competency

Familiarity/experience with Salesforce or other CRM (training available)
