Animal Care Centers (ACC) of NYC is seeking an experienced Training Assistant to work in partnership with the Training Manager and the entire ACC team to assist in strengthening the current training program to support organizational growth. This position supports ACC’s human resources department with an emphasis on facilitating staff trainings, growing the training department, and engaging employees in new and exciting training initiatives and programs. The ideal candidate will care deeply about the mission of ACC, and have proven success as an important member of a hard-working human resources team. This is a full-time position.
Responsibilities:
Training (80%)
Work with the Training Manager to deliver scheduled trainings for employees throughout the year
Organize various types of data such as training attendance to report program statistics
Evaluate efficiency and effectiveness of existing trainings
Maintain and manage events and trainings calendar
Assist in drafting materials for new training programs providing input and feedback; review, evaluation and modify existing and proposed programs
Prepares and distributes training aids such as instructional material, handouts, evaluation forms, and visual aids
Maintains an up to date e- learning portal for all staff
Schedule, send out invitations and lead new hire orientation, working with other ACC personnel to present an engaging dynamic entry into our organization. Follow up with post class items.
Solicits feedback on training activities, methods, and topics from participants as well as management
Coordinates training activities and maintains master calendar of events for the organization
Actively trains staff as needed, in collaboration with departmental leadership and/or representatives
Helps coordinate activities around new “rollouts” including organizing training, maintaining attendance and documentation of participation, follow up, etc.
Schedule, advertise and host events in addition to training such as compassion fatigue group sessions, DEI, meetings, and other events offered to staff
Manage required trainings (annual harassment, DEI etc.) on a monthly basis including maintaining up to date records of who is due, distributing materials, sending reminders and following up with past due learners
Maintain records for all certificate trainings
Assign, distribute and follow up with past due annual reviews
Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Recruitment (20%)
Provide additional support as needed with certain recruitment functions such as job postings and resume sourcing
Conduct reference checks on candidates as part of our hiring process
Provide additional administrative recruitment support as needed
Qualifications:
Ability to excel in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to advertise trainings, spark interest with employees, ensure trainings are well received and information is retained
Must work well independently but also function seamlessly as a member of a team
Exceptional communication, time management, facilitation, and organizational skills
Education and Work Experience:
Associates or Bachelor’s degree in human resources is preferred, but not required
1+ year in a training or human resources role is preferred, but not required
