2022 GI Film Festival San Diego Submission Deadline Extended

The GI Film Festival San Diego is a multi-day showcase of films for, by, and about military and veteran experiences. Happening May 17-21, 2022 in San Diego, the festival welcomes content ranging from shorts, documentaries, or full-length features of all genres by students, emerging, or professional filmmakers. Compelling, thoughtful, and transformative films that deal directly with military and veteran experiences as well as films made by or starring military and veterans are presented on the big screen. Films and film blocks are followed by engaging conversations with filmmakers, film subjects, and experts.

The festival is a juried competition with awards presented in more than a dozen categories including Best Film Made By or Starring Military or Veterans, Best Documentary Feature, Best Narrative Short, and the Founders Choice Award.

The festival is the perfect opportunity to exhibit your work. If you are a veteran or service member, you can submit a film of any theme, plotline, or genre -- let your imagination go wild! All other filmmakers are asked to submit military or veteran connected films only. International submissions are also welcome.

The final extended deadline of January 3 is coming up fast!
