The VHA Office of Health Equity is searching for early career scientists to participate in meetings of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (the National Academies) Roundtable on the Promotion of Health Equity.  The Roundtables's mission is to advance the visibility and understanding of inequities in health outcomes and health care among racial and ethnic subgroups; amplify research, policy, and community-centered programs; and catalyze the emergence of new leaders, partners, and stakeholders.

This is a 3-year fellowship.  Expected responsibilities of the Fellow include serving on the planning committee for at least one Roundtable meeting; attending all sponsored by Health Equity Roundtable during their fellowship term; and writing one perspectives piece for the National Academies of Science NAM Perspectives.  Potential candidates will not serve as voting members of the Roundtable but are invited to engage fully in all discussions and deliberations of the Roundtable.

Potential candidates should be:

conducting research in one or more of the following fields: health care delivery; health care systems; minority health and health disparities; social determinants of health; and other related topics

a student, post-doctoral fellow or within first two years of being awarded a Career Development Award (CDA) or equivalent early career grant

demonstrate a commitment to advancing health equity research

Potential candidates must be VHA employees.

The Roundtable typically sponsors two meetings per year.  Meetings will be held virtually until in-person travel and meetings resume.  Once possible, travel to Roundtable meetins will be funded by the VHA Office of Health Equity.
