MVA Program Coordinator Position

Minority Veterans of America (MVA) seeks a skilled Program Coordinator for their Seattle, Washington office who has a passion for making a difference in the Veteran community and can help fulfill their organization’s mission by reaching out to the community and making meaningful connections.  This role is full-time and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:30 – 5:00 p.m. Occasion evening and weekend requirements for events and meetings.

The Seattle Program Coordinator will work under the Seattle Program Director overseeing the People to People Program. People to People (P2P) engages members through community-based programming. The program provides human-centered case management services for minority and underrepresented veteran communities. This is accomplished through their three focus areas of Social Engagement (SE), Financial Stability (FS), and Systems Access & Improvement (SA). P2P takes a holistic approach in meeting the veteran where they are in space and time resulting in enhancing a greater sense of belonging and reducing barriers to accessing services and systems for our communities.

Core Responsibilities

The SPC will:
Build connections and opportunities with veterans, families, businesses, financial partners, etc.
Connect with veterans and their families who have inquired, visited website, or has been referred to us
Correspond to emails and phone calls
Assist walk-in clients visiting for the first time, providing them information and resources
Organize meetings and events and seek out opportunities to make organizational presence known
Attends relevant community meetings; participate in relevant councils and committees
Schedule outreach presentations in the community and communicate with staff regarding coverage and responsibilities.
Maintain relationships with collaborative partners and cultivate new ones
Work collaboratively with veterans, families, partners to ensure high quality of support

Key Credentials and Personal Qualities

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent 3 and -5 years of relevant professional experience, with demonstrated leadership in a program development, case management, or social work
3-5 years of experience working with and serving trans, nonbinary, and gender-diverse populations
Experience working with or in military and veteran communities
Ability to multitask and prioritize projects while working on a deadline or in a resource constrained environment
Proficiency with all forms of social media, email distribution software (we currently use MailChimp), and Salesforce
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Knowledge and experience with social media platforms, website management, and Salesforce
