Poetic Theater Productions is teaming up with the Brooklyn Public Library's Incubator Program (Brooklyn Heights Branch) to present Untold Stories: You Ask, I Tell, a transformative writing workshop for LGBTQ veterans and young adults. This 8-week virtual workshop will bring together 6 queer veteran artists and 6 queer young adults to connect and converse, creating new written work based on these conversations.
They are inviting any and all applicants, with a focus on queer veterans of all discharge statuses and young adults (ages 13 to 18) who identify as queer and/or LGBTQ+ to build empathy, community, and to share their own stories powerfully through a free online workshop series in which they will learn journalistic interviewing, writing, and performance skills and create pieces of poetry and spoken word that will be shared with a public audience.
**Application deadline is May 3rd!**
Schedule of Activities:
MAY 17: Orientation
MAY 24: Book Club Workshop (reading and discussion of texts by queer authors and poets about queer experiences)
MAY 31: Interviewing Skills Workshop

All workshops will take place over Zoom. All participants must attend all workshops in the series, as they are designed to build one upon the other. The Zoom meeting link will be provided to participants upon acceptance into the program.
They welcome submissions from people with and without formal writing experience. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A PROFESSIONAL WRITER OR PERFORMER TO SUBMIT.
The workshop series has space for up to 12 participants. Inclusivity is a key value to this program. Registration is open to all, with a focus on Brooklyn veterans and teens who identify as queer or LGBTQ+. They welcome applications from veterans in all branches of service and with all discharge statuses. They welcome applications from people of all races, religions, gender identities, and abilities. There are no fees associated with participation in these workshops. Participation in previous Veteran Voices workshops does not guarantee selection.
