VA's National Cemetery Administration and the non-profit Carry The Load have joined forces leading up to Memorial Day to honor veterans and service members interred in national cemeteries across the country. Volunteers can “Carry The Load” for an American hero who is no longer with us. No donation is required to participate.
Memorial Day is dedicated to honor and remember the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Although it is observed on the last Monday of May, Carry The Load's Memorial May campaign takes place all month long to raise awareness and provide active ways to connect Americans to the sacrifices made by our military, veterans, first responders and their families.
Carry The Load inspires people to actively participate in its Memorial May events to restore the true meaning of Memorial Day. Upon registering, you can participate by hosting a Carry It Anywhere experience, organizing a youth Carry The Flag activity, walking in the National Relay, attending a Rally, fundraising for our nation’s heroes, and taking part virtually throughout the 32-day event.
