Moral Injury Treatment Study Opportunity

The US Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking eligible veterans to participate in a research study of a new treatment for moral injury at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center in the Bronx, NY.

This study is an randomized clinical trial of a therapy for moral injury called Impact of Killing (IOK).  The entire study can be completed remotely if preferred.  It is appropriate for veterans who are experiencing distress related to killing or feeling responsible for the death of others.  Participants may have subthreshold PTSD.  IOK is being compared with Present Centered Therapy, so veterans will get an active treatment regardless of randomization.

The treatment is a 10 week program of 90 minute sessions.

Reimbursement of up to $285 for completing interviews and questionnaires, and providing feedback. There are no guaranteed benefits from this research.
