Joggin' for Frogmen (JFF), in partnership with the Travis Manion Foundation, will hold the Extortion 17 Memorial Run/Ruck on Saturday, August 6, 2022.
On August 6th 2011, a United States CH-47 Chinook military helicopter operating with the call sign EXTORTION 17 was shot down, marking the most devastating day in Naval Special Warfare history and the single largest loss of life for U.S. forces since the war in Afghanistan began in October 2001. The US military lost 31 warriors that day.
Joggin’ for Frogmen was created to honor these heroes and all those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
Each year, Joggin’ for Frogmen activates communities across the country to celebrate the lives of America’s fallen and to express deep gratitude to those still serving. You can participate in three different ways:
Register to walk, run, or ruck 3.1 miles as a virtual participant in honor of the 31 warriors lost.
Register to run or ruck 31 miles anywhere, anytime throughout the month of August as a virtual participant.
Host a shadow run in your local area and invite family and friends to join.
The Joggin’ for Frogmen 5K Race Series – including the EXTORTION 17 Memorial Run/Ruck – exclusively benefits Naval Special Warfare families of the fallen connected through TMF programs. Your support helps TMF empower survivors to find healing, grow, and honor their loved ones through service.
