    Warrior Writers Virtual Workshop

Attend the Warrior Writers Virtual Workshop on July 8, 7-9pm (EST). This generative creative writing workshop will offer prompts that cover a variety of military issues and experiences. This encourages sharing stories, opinions, and ideas for productive writing/reflecting/story-telling and art-making. A highlight of these workshops for many veterans is having a space to release bottled-up thoughts and emotions among others who understand, creating a sense of empowerment in the ability to tell their own story. By creating an open and accepting atmosphere, Warrior Writers build a community of support. Workshops are for any service member or veteran regardless of experiences with writing, combat, art, deployment, etc.

Register here. This class is led by Warrior Writers poet/playwright/actor Jeff Key, based between New Orleans and LA.

    COVID-19 Virtual Town Hall

Watch this Town Hall from the COVID-19 Military Support Initiative, Association of Defense Communities, and Blue Star Families: COVID-19 and the Base of the Future on July 9, 3-4pm (EST).

Just a few short months ago, when people discussed the “base of the future,” the most common terms used were 5G wireless, Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence. Fast forward to today, and the conversation is now far different, and our installations and communities are facing a challenge few envisioned. Join a discussion with Hon. Jordan Gillis, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Sustainment, as we explore how COVID-19 has impacted the DOD’s installation management priorities and future planning efforts.
Free event - register here. Capacity is limited.

COVID-19 Military Support Initiative is powered by Booz Allen Hamilton.

    MOAA Conversation on Networking

Military Officers Association of America offers a Conversation on Networking on July 10, 1-2pm (EST).

We’ve all heard all about the importance of networking, but what does this really mean? How can we optimize our approach? The real secret to networking is building and sustaining relationships. What makes someone a powerful networker isn’t the sheer number of contacts, but rather the depth and quality of those relationships.

Want to know more? MOAA can help! They have assembled a panel of veterans from various industries and sectors who have landed successfully in their civilian positions. They are ready to share key insights about how to find connections through the art of networking, and then to develop, hone, and maintain those relationships as you grow your network and progress along your career journey.

Bottom line: You should always be networking, whether you are actively looking for a job or not.
