    The United Staten Island Veterans Organization presents An Evening to Honor on May 6, 7-11pm. Tickets are $70 per person.

    Hope For The Warriors Annual Clay Shoot

    VIRTUAL Intrepid Book Club - The Yellow Birds

    Join fellow veterans, service members and military family members at the Intrepid Museum for a lively book discussion ONLINE! The Intrepid Book Club meets quarterly for a two-hour facilitated discussion with an introduction related to the Museum’s collection and crew. Books are a mix of fiction and nonfiction, all related to military or military family experiences. Copies of the books are available for free on a first-come, first-served basis (email or call 646-381-5182 to register and then receive your copy).

    On May 12, 6-8pm, discuss the National Book Award finalist The Yellow Birds by Kevin Powers. This lyrical novel follows two friends as they try to keep each other alive on the battlefields in Iraq. “An elegiac, sober, and haunting coming-of-age war story”- Jim Frederick, TIME

    Moderator Reed Bonadonna is a former Marine Corps infantry officer and field historian. He is the author of Soldiers and Civilization: How the Profession of Arms Thought and Fought the Modern World into Existence and other works on military ethics and professionalism.

    Meet and interview with hiring managers at companies ranging from local businesses to Fortune 500 corporations at MilitaryX Brooklyn Veterans Career Fair on May 20, 11am-2pm.     ASAP Combat to Comedy

    The Armed Services Arts Partnership (ASAP) announces Combat to Comedy on May 21, 6:30-9pm, their fifth annual veterans comedy show in New York City.

    Veteran stand-up comics will take the stage at Caroline's on Broadway alongside headline comedians for a night of side-splitting laughter. Hosted by Seth Herzog, with ASAP Comedy Bootcamp Alumni Dewayne White (Army), Kelsey Storr (Navy), and Laurie Wood (Navy), with special guests TBA.

    Combat to Comedy features graduates of the first stand-up comedy class in the country for veterans – ASAP’s Comedy Bootcamp – and raises funds to support ASAP's community arts programs.

    VIP ticket holders gain access to a pre-show reception 6:30-7:30pm with hors d'oeuvres, open bar, and meet & greet with the ASAP performers. VIP tickets also include table service during the show (dinner will not be served).

    Come laugh and celebrate the impact of comedy and the arts in veterans' lives.

    Staten Island Annual Memorial Day Parade

    The Annual Memorial Day Parade in Staten Island will step off on May 25, 12pm from the intersection of Forest Avenue and Hart Boulevard. It will proceed down Forest Avenue to the Stop and Shop near Jewitt Avenue. The reviewing stand will be near Blessed Sacrament Church, at Forest Avenue and Manor Road.
