New York City Department of Veterans' Services presents a Selling to Government For Veteran Owned Businesses online seminar on January 22, 11am-12:30pm (ET). This event will highlight the benefits of having your business certified as an MWBE, LBE, and EBE and review contract opportunities with the NYC government. Participants will also have an opportunity to hear from peers who have become certified and successfully contracted with City agencies.
Featured experts will answer key questions such as:
- How do I determine if doing business with the government is right for me?
- What are the benefits of MWBE, EBE, LBE certification?
- What services are available to help me succeed in contracting with the government?
- Are there available opportunities to do business with local, state, or federal government agencies?
- How do I access NYC Covid-19 relief programs for small businesses?
Join Hiring Our Heroes for an information session for prospective fellows on January 22, 1-2pm (EST). The Military Spouse Fellowship Program provides military spouses with professional training, networking, and hands-on experience in the civilian workforce. The professional development and direct connection to local employers offered through the 6-week program enable military spouses to quickly build their networks and gain localized work experience.
Join the Intrepid Museum and fellow veterans, service members, and their loved ones for a virtual staycation called On Liberty: The National WWII Museum on January 22, 5pm (ET). For this kick-off session, they will be Zoom into New Orleans to explore The National World War II Museum. The National WWII Museum’s senior historian, Robert Citino, PhD, and curator Joshua Schick, will be joined by the Intrepid Museum’s curator of history and collections, Jessica Williams, to discuss the Pacific War and collections from both institutions.
Virtually visit museums all across the country with the Intrepid Museum as we remain socially distant. Join fellow veterans, current service members, and their loved ones to explore museums from near and far with connections to the Intrepid Museum’s history and collection. Each program will be guided by museum curators and educators, with plenty of opportunities to share and ask questions. No travel is needed for these interactive virtual visits!
The Rutgers Newark SBDC wants to ensure that businesses owned by minorities, veterans and women are at the forefront of success. The NJ Certifications & Private Contracting Virtual Workshop on January 23, 9am-2pm (ET), will help you to position your businesses so that you can compete for business opportunities with the City, State and Private Sector companies.
This workshop will educate prospective New Jersey applicants on how to submit a successful Registration or Certification Application (WBE/MBE/SBE/VOB) with the state of New Jersey. The training will provide helpful tips and information to complete a winning application.
Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum's Military Family Program is going virtual on January 23, 1-2pm (ET)! Join current and former military service members and their families (children ages 3-18) via Zoom for a free interactive program.
Scientists need your help! In order to gather data for large scale projects, scientists need the help of people around the world. Explore projects related to sea, air and space that scientists are asking everyday citizens to contribute to.

Vet Centers are community-based counseling centers that provide a wide range of social and psychological services, including professional readjustment counseling to eligible veterans, active duty service members, including National Guard and Reserve components, and their families.
Readjustment counseling is offered to make a successful transition from military to civilian life or after a traumatic event experienced in the military.
Individual, group, marriage and family counseling is offered in addition to referral and connection to other VA or community benefits and services.
Vet Center counselors and outreach staff, many of whom are veterans themselves, are experienced and prepared to discuss the tragedies of war, loss, grief and transition after trauma.
Join Warrior-Scholar Project for a dialogue with US Army veteran and advocate Lucy Del Gaudio on January 25, 1pm (EST), about maintaining passion for advocacy through self-care, setting goals and boundaries, and resilience.
This session is a part of Warrior-Scholar Project's Women Veterans Empowerment Dialogues (WVEDs), a virtual series of informational small group talks given by female or femme of center veterans. the goal of these talks is to create female and feminine of center spaces and discussions that are inclusive and empowering for veterans.

Registration is required as participant space is limited. This event is free of charge and open to military service members of all branches, veterans of any service era or discharge status, their spouses & partners, and immediate family members.
The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the Mayor’s Equity Task Force are providing a virtual presentation entitled COVID-19 Community Conversations: Mental Health, Equity & Resilience on January 27, 11:30-1pm (ET), focused on mental health during the pandemic to New Yorkers in the areas hardest hit by COVID-19. This session will cover topics such as grief, trauma, coping, and resilience in addition to mental health tips.
The White Plains Vet Center and Bronx Vet Center are happy to partner with the Westchester County Joseph P. Dwyer Vet2Vet Peer Support Project and Family Services of Westchester to provide a series of virtual Financial Fitness workshops. These are open to all veterans, spouses, and caregivers.
