In honor of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, Berkeley College’s fourth annual disability awareness event on October 29, 2-4pm (EST) will highlight veterans with disabilities. This free virtual presentation titled Heroes in Need of Heroes and Their Stories will discuss the women and men of the United States military and their resilient journey through their military service, disability, and employment experiences.

NYC Department of Veterans' Services and Nourish NY have partnered to offer Food Distribution on October 31, 9:30-10am, to veterans and military families facing food insecurity.
Prepacked meal bags consist of perishable items such as: protein, dairy, grocery & produce to make two nutritional meals per bag. Anyone who wishes to volunteer to pack up meals may do so 9am-12pm on the day of.

Google is excited to launch their first virtual series for the US veteran community on November 2, 2-4pm (EST). This series is open to any active duty US service member or veteran, regardless of education level, date of separation, or years of experience in any industry.
2-2:30pm: A Fireside Chat with Google Veterans - Panelists will discuss their paths to Google, how they positioned themselves for a role at Google, what transferable skills they utilize in their jobs, and general career advice.
2:30-3pm: Technical Roles at Google - Hear from Googlers in technical roles across various product areas and functions in a series of 8-minute individual lightning talks.
3-3:30pm: Business Roles at Google - Don’t have a technical background? No problem!
3:30-4pm: Building Your Civilian Brand - Learn more about how to establish your brand as a civilian, including which resume format is best for you and how to translate your military resume for non-military jobs.

Travis Manion Foundation offers a Virtual Character Story Reading (for 2nd to 5th graders) on November 4, 3pm (EST). TMF's Northeast team offers opportunities for your child to participate in conversations about character, service and leadership through both guided discussions and story readings.Character Does Matter strengthens character and leadership skills in young adults. Grounded in the evidence-based field of Positive Psychology, the program uses a strengths-based approach to foster character traits in the next generation through a combination of informal discussions and activity-based learning. The Military Officers Association of America's Military Executive Transition (MET) Seminar is a virtual, one-day workshop on November 5, 10am-5pm (EST), geared toward preparing military leaders for civilian careers. The workshop focuses on key aspects of a successful military-to-civilian transition and on veterans seeking advancement in their civilian careers.
The seminar includes insight on how to build a stronger and broader network to accelerate your job search; strategies for using recruiters and executive search firms; self-marketing tools including your résumé, LinkedIn profile, and business cards; as well as interview pointers and best practices for salary and benefits negotiations.
The workshop concludes with a popular panel of successfully transitioned senior officers from a range of industries who share their experiences and insights.
Join the first ever Bunker Labs National Veterans in Residence Pitch Competition featuring participants of the 20B Cohort on November 5, 3pm (EST). Five companies chosen from their 23 cohorts across the county will pitch for a chance to win money to help propel their business forward.
There will be pitches, there will be a laughs, there will be Bunker orange and of course PRIZES!
Growing a business can be hard, Veterans in Residence is a highly-selective, peer facilitated, six-month business incubator that provides military-connected entrepreneurs the community, business skills, and workspace to help launch and grow their business. Currently offered virtually and in-person pending local guidance. The Veterans in Residence 20B Cohort is full of military-connected rock stars working every day to make their entrepreneurial dreams a reality.
