    Women for Afghan Women: Peace, Power & Purpose

    Women for Afghan Women presents Peace, Power & Purpose: A Journey Toward Women's Safety & Equality, a webinar on October 20, 12pm.

    This past weekend, the Afghan government officially started its negotiations to end the country's four-decade-long conflict with the Taliban. As the country tries to achieve a seemingly elusive peace, Women for Afghan Women (WAW) invites you to join a candid behind-the-scenes conversation with their team, moderated by Deborah Amos, international correspondent with NPR and professor of journalism at Princeton University.

    Hear from Executive Director, Najia Nasim; Head of Programs, Benafsha Amiri; and Associate Board member and former client, Nilab Nusrat. They will bring their first-hand experiences from the frontlines in Afghanistan and speak about women's rights and their commitment to ending violence against women.

    3rd Annual Heroes and History Makers Gala

High-quality relationships are vital for our health and well-being and loneliness might be a sign that something is not quite right with our emotional health.     NYC DVS & Nourish NY Food Distribution

    NYC Department of Veterans' Services and Nourish NY have partnered to offer Food Distribution on October 21, 1:30-3pm, to veterans and military families facing food insecurity.

    Prepacked meal bags consist of perishable items such as: protein, dairy, grocery & produce to make two nutritional meals per bag. 

    Organizations that want to schedule a pick-up can email Latisha Russaw.

    Travis Manion Foundation Virtual Character Story Readings

    Travis Manion Foundation offers a Virtual Character Story Reading (for 2nd to 5th graders) on October 21, 3pm (EST). TMF's Northeast team offers opportunities for your child to participate in conversations about character, service and leadership through both guided discussions and story readings.

    Character Does Matter strengthens character and leadership skills in young adults. Grounded in the evidence-based field of Positive Psychology, the program uses a strengths-based approach to foster character traits in the next generation through a combination of informal discussions and activity-based learning. By sharing stories of real people who exemplify great character and leadership, Character Does Matter demonstrates what it means to live the “If Not Me, Then Who…” ethos – and challenges students to do the same.
