    Free Tax Preparation for Nassau & Suffolk Veterans

    Nassau & Suffolk County veterans can receive Free Tax Preparation on March 21, 10am-2pm. IRS-certified volunteers will be on hand to prepare your return. 

    Veterans of all eras and their spouses, spouse of a fallen service member and their children, and those with income less than $90,000 are welcome. 

    BRING: copy of the previous year’s tax return; picture ID; all income documents (W2, 1099, 1098, other documents showing income); all forms 1095-Health Insurance statements; information for credits that you are claiming (student loan interest, education credit); social security card or ITIN; birth dates; other applicable tax-related documents (interest statements, federal loan documents, retirement statements, charitable donations).

    Appointments are required. Call to make an appointment.

    MilitaryX Brooklyn Veterans Career Fair

    Meet and interview with hiring managers at companies ranging from local businesses to Fortune 500 corporations at MilitaryX Brooklyn Veterans Career Fair on March 24, 11am-2pm. In serving your country, you have trained to become these company's greatest assets. This career fair will allow you to learn about the businesses that are hiring and meet them face-to-face. Anyone who served active duty, in the National Guard, or in the Reserves and their spouses are invited to attend.

    Spring 2020 Edge4Vets Workshop

    Register for the Spring 2020 Edge4Vets Workshop on March 27, 1-4pm. The goal is to prepare and connect you to an internship/job that can lead to a career - for the life you want! Major companies send mentors to the Connection Workshop. They help you create a draft for a personal PLAN4SUCCESS, then Edge4Vets connect you to job and career opportunities at their companies.

    Following the workshop, you'll get an invitation to the online program where you can work at your own pace to refine and polish your Plan4Success before submitting it to earn your Edge4Vets certificate.

    UWVC Reading the Names of the Fallen

    Attend the Reading of the Names of the Fallen on March 28, 8-10:30am to commemorate Vietnam Veterans Day. Volunteers will read the names of the 1,741 New Yorkers who lost their lives in the Vietnam War, as well as those who died in Iraq, Afghanistan and other post-9/11 operations.

    The 5th Annual Stakeholders Awards Breakfast will honor those who have given exemplary service to our veteran community on March 28, 9am-12pm.

    UWVC Vietnam Veterans Tribute March

    Attend the Vietnam Veterans Tribute March on March 28, 9-10:30am. The march will retrace the route of the 1985 Welcome Home Parade from Korean War Veterans Plaza/Cadman Plaza in Brooklyn to Vietnam Veterans Plaza in Manhattan.

    IMPORTANT: All participants should realistically assess their ability to complete a 3.2 mile march, keeping in mind that the weather in late March may be cold or inclement. If you are unable to complete a march of this distance, we suggest meeting the group as it arrives for the Wreath Laying ceremony in Manhattan.
