It’s been ONE year since the first Blue Star Families Virtual Coffee Connect in response to the COVID quarantine. And guess what? It’s time to get together again! Come meet new families, say hi to old friends, and let’s check in over a cup of coffee. Everyone who attends will be entered for a chance to win a Starbucks gift card!
Join Hiring Our Heroes for the two-day virtual AMPLIFY Spouse Career Intensive on March 23, 8:30am-3:45pm (EST) and March 24, 8:30am-1:45pm (ET). The event leads a cohort of military spouses through intensive career preparation, professional development, and networking. AMPLIFY attendees will leave with an improved resume, a professional photo, a polished LinkedIn profile, and a professional network of fellow military spouses and employers.
Attendees will be given the opportunity to:
- Connect with a hand-picked career coach or industry leader
- Participate in interactive sessions on public/professional speaking, salary negotiations, networking skills, personal branding, interview techniques, and military spouse entrepreneurial options
- Interact with local and national employers and companies
Registration is required as cohort size is limited to ensure each attendee is given one-on-one attention. Registrants will be notified of acceptance into the program and given further instructions via email following initial registration. Acceptance is on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Military Officers Association of America's Military Executive Transition (MET) Seminar is a virtual, one-day workshop on March 25, 10am-5pm (EST), geared toward preparing military leaders for civilian careers. The workshop focuses on key aspects of a successful military-to-civilian transition and on veterans seeking advancement in their civilian careers.
The seminar includes insight on how to build a stronger and broader network to accelerate your job search; strategies for using recruiters and executive search firms; self-marketing tools including your résumé, LinkedIn profile, and business cards; as well as interview pointers and best practices for salary and benefits negotiations.
The workshop concludes with a popular panel of successfully transitioned senior officers from a range of industries who share their experiences and insights.
Understand How to Do a VA Claim on March 25, 12-1pm (EST). A New York State Division of Veteran Affairs representative will discuss how they can help you submit a claim.
There is no time limit to file a claim for disability compensation. It does not matter how many years have passed since your date of discharge from the military.
If you already have a disability compensation rating from the VA, but your medical condition has worsened, you may file another claim for a higher monthly payout based on the worsening of your medical condition.
Register here. Once your registration is confirmed, a form will be sent out to every participant that should be completed and returned before the event.
Attend the Warrior Writers Virtual Virtual Open Mic Night for veterans and family members on March 25, 8pm (EST).There will be 15 guaranteed performance spots, and 5 waitlist spots, on a first-come first-serve basis. Each performer will be given 4 minutes of time. Poetry, music, storytelling, comedy, or any other form is welcome, and you can perform multiple pieces, as long as it's all under 4 minutes! This is a non-competitive, free event. Performers may share their social media handles, websites, Venmo/Paypal/Cashapp information if viewers want to show some appreciation for the artists’ work!

Spectra and John Jay Veterans Association presents Service Beyond the Binary, a Zoom webinar, on April 2, 1:40pm (ET).

Join Hiring Our Heroes for an interactive workshop on Acing the Interview on April 6, 1-2pm (EST).
Learn how to prepare, execute, and follow up when you are in the running for your next job. This interactive workshop will include two parts: a best practices presentation followed by an interactive workshop where participants will have a chance to work in small groups to refine and practice for interviews.
Take NYC Edge4Vets Online Workshop Series on April 9 & 23, 1-2:30pm (ET). The series will prepare you for jobs that can lead to great careers. They offer two Zoom sessions, two weeks apart. In Zoom One, you learn how to create a draft Plan4Success for an “edge” to get hired. You’ll have two weeks to work at your own pace to finalize your plan. Then come back for Zoom Two, where they connect you to HR reps at partner companies to help you match your skills and interests in your plan to job opportunities.
