    Intrepid Museum Reopens

    The Intrepid Sea, Air, & Space Museum Reopens September 25, 10am-5pm! Veterans and service members will continue to have free admission to the Intrepid Museum.

    The following exhibits and amenities will be unavailable through October 9: Concorde, Growler Submarine and Exhibition, Gift Shop, Food Service, Guided Tours, Audio Tours, 3-D Films and Simulators.

    Kellogg's Veteran Virtual Career Fair

    Kellogg's holds a Veteran Virtual Career Fair on September 25, 11am-1pm. Speak directly with Hiring Managers and Recruiters about nationwide jobs in Sales, Operations, Manufacturing, IT, Finance, Supply Chain and more. Participate in a Q&A session with the KVets team who have navigated careers at Kellogg’s! Female attendees may participate in the Women Veterans Roundtable hosted by Morgan Dennis, USA (Information Technology Manager).

    Your Brain on the Military Online

    The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum offers an online presentation called Your Brain on the Military on September 25, 12-1pm (EST). The Intrepid Museum and New-York Presbyterian Military Family Wellness Center welcome current and former military service members and their family and friends for a virtual town hall discussing veteran mental health concerns around COVID-19 and service-related issues. Learn about how social changes, grief, and economic loss are affecting our veteran community and about resources and treatments available at the Military Family Wellness Center.

    Mission Continues Newark Urban Farming

    Join The Mission Continues Newark Platoon and Urban Agriculture Co-op on September 26, 1-5pm, and work on the urban garden at West Side High School. The purpose of the garden will be to teach the students sustainability. As part of this mission, you'll help with tree/shrub planting, garden box building using drills, compost bin building, shoveling soil to fill garden boxes, etc.

    NYC DVS & Nourish NY Food Distribution

    NYC Department of Veterans' Services and Nourish NY have partnered to offer Food Distribution on September 26, 1-3pm, to veterans and military families facing food insecurity.

    Prepacked meal bags consist of perishable items such as: protein, dairy, grocery & produce to make two nutritional meals per bag. Anyone who wishes to volunteer to pack up meals may do so 9am-12pm on the day of.

    Bergen County Veterans Outreach Event

    The Bergen County Department of Military and Veterans Affairs partners with the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission on September 28, 10am-2pm, in a Veterans Outreach Event to assist veterans with a wide assortment of services. Both agencies will have their outreach vehicles on site.

    Warrior Writers Virtual Workshop

    Attend the Warrior Writers Virtual Workshop for female vets on September 28, 6-8pm (EST). This generative creative writing workshop will offer prompts that cover a variety of military issues and experiences. This encourages sharing stories, opinions, and ideas for productive writing/reflecting/story-telling and art-making. A highlight of these workshops for many veterans is having a space to release bottled-up thoughts and emotions among others who understand, creating a sense of empowerment in the ability to tell their own story. By creating an open and accepting atmosphere, Warrior Writers build a community of support. Workshops are for any service member or veteran regardless of experiences with writing, combat, art, deployment, etc.

    VIRTUAL Intrepid Book Club

    Join fellow veterans, service members and military family members at the Intrepid Museum for a lively book discussion ONLINE! The Intrepid Book Club meets quarterly for a two-hour facilitated discussion with an introduction related to the Museum’s collection and crew. Books are a mix of fiction and nonfiction, all related to military or military family experiences. Copies of the books are available for free on a first-come, first-served basis (email or call 646-381-5182 to register and then receive your copy).

    On September 29, 6-8pm (EST), discuss Bloods: Black Veterans of the Vietnam War: An Oral History by Wallace Terry. This collection of oral histories tells the stories of Black veterans as they fought in Vietnam for their country and also at home for their civil rights.

    The Intrepid Book Club is free to attend for all current and former service members and their families, spouses and partners, with advanced registration. RSVP here.
