A Flag, a Flower, a Moment of Memorial

This coming Memorial Day, NYC Veterans Alliance will join the United War Veterans Council, New York City Department of Veterans' Service, and New York State Division of Veterans' Services in remembering America’s fallen through A Flag, a Flower, a Moment of Memorial.

Public commemorations of Memorial Day have been cancelled in NYC due to the pandemic, but we can come together virtually by sharing images and memories on social media using the hashtag #FlagFlowerMemorial.

How to Participate

On Memorial Day (Monday, May 25), take a photo of an American flag and a flower and reflect on the meaning of the holiday with your family and friends. You are welcome to share stories of the servicemembers and veterans laid to rest who you are thinking of on this solemn day. You may also choose to share your thoughts on memorials or historic sites you're thinking of as we take a day to commemorate those who gave all in America's military conflicts.

Please use the hashtag #FlagFlowerMemorial and share your image and thoughts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and/or LinkedIn. Participating organizations may share any public posts using this hashtag. We hope to fill social media with memories and meaning on Memorial Day.
