The United Military Veterans of Kings County have announced Brooklyn’s 150th annual Kings County Memorial Day Parade will take place on May 29, 11am. It’s the oldest continuous Memorial Day Parade in the Metropolitan Area, and one of the oldest in America. This parade dates back to when Brooklyn was an independent city and the third largest in the country.
The parade runs down Third Avenue from 78th Street to Marine Avenue, then to Fourth Avenue and down to John Paul Jones Park at 101st Street.
There will be several floats, antique cars and a vintage fire truck that veterans with disabilities or unable to march can ride.
Register to march here.
Everyone is invited to line parade route and applaud Veteran groups, civic/business organizations, schools, and bands who will march with our active duty military, US Air Force Honor Guard and West Point Band; NYPD + FDNY, Henry Ford II Marching Band - Sterling Heights, Michigan, and many others.
A Memorial Service to honor all those who died in selfless service to our country will be held in the park immediately following the Parade; including wreath-laying, raising our nation's flag, 21-gun salute by Veteran Corps of Artillery, and playing of Taps.
