Citizen University Virtual Civic Saturday

Join Citizen University for a special Virtual Civic Saturday on March 28, 2-3pm (EST)! Around the country, communities are implementing social distancing practices in order to promote the health and safety of vulnerable populations during the coronavirus outbreak. Now more than ever, it is important to maintain rituals and support efforts that strengthen our collective civic health, even if we cannot gather in person.

Head over to the Citizen University Facebook page to join their live stream feed. You can watch alone, or if you can, gathering with a few friends in the comfort of your own home so you can watch and discuss with each other. If you haven't been able to attend a Civic Saturday or live outside of the Seattle area, this is the perfect time to join in! You can also tune in on YouTube at this link.

While they believe gathering in person is important in strong civic rituals, in this moment where gathering in large groups is not possible for the safety of our community, it is important to keep our spirits up in during a time when people may be more isolated than usual. They will include all the elements of a regular Civic Saturday, including a way to participate virtually with their Turn-and-Talk and Civic Circles for those who may be watching on their own. They will still sing, listen to readings of Civic Scripture, reflect with poetry, and hear a a civic sermon from Eric Liu.
