Announcing Truths Colliding, a creative workshop series and public performance in honor of Memorial Day

Exit12 has embarked on a series of workshops with members of the military community and refugees on the deck of the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum in NYC.

Exit12 will hold space for participants to share stories about personal and cultural identity and the ways that war has shaped those identities. By sharing these stories we aim to build cross-cultural dialogue, empathy, and healing. The workshop series will culminate in a performance for Memorial Day 2023 as part of New York City’s Fleet Week.

You can come along and see this amazing collaboration live on May 26th at 6:30pm on the Intrepid, a weapon of war turned into a cultural and educational space in NYC.

The evening will feature works from Exit12's repertoire as well as two world-premieres that emerge from Exit12's collaborative workshop series. The performance will be followed by a post-show discussion facilitated by Fmr. British Royal Marine and NYU Classics Professor Peter Meineck. The evening will conclude with a wine and cheese reception.

This partnership and workshop series is funded in part by the Creative Forces Community Engagement Grant. We are honored to be one of 26 organizations to receive this funding.

Supported by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and in partnership with Mid-America Arts Alliance, Creative Forces Community Engagement grants support arts programming that aims to improve the health, well-being, and quality of life of military service members and veterans exposed to trauma as well as their families and caregivers through experiences of art or art making.
