Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum will host Build It, Sail It, Fly It, an Early Morning Opening program on Saturday, November 6, 8:30-11:00am.
The Intrepid Museum offers Early Morning Openings for children with autism (ages 3-18) and their families before the Museum opens to the public! Families receive a sensory bag with interactive activities designed for the whole family, and explore the Museum without the crowds! Participants receive a social narrative ahead of time. Museum educators lead short, interactive tours designed for all learners, as well as drop-in art activities and structured social/play opportunities.
The Build It, Sailt It Fly It program will help participants figure out how airplanes and ships are assembled and maintained. Explore the Museum at your own pace to learn about the tools and strategies used on board. Then, practice building your own designs in the Exploreum!
Families must check in by 9:30am. After the Museum opens to the public at 10:00am, the interactive Exploreum will stay closed to the public until 11:00am.
