Introduction to Sierra Club Outings

Attend the Introduction to Sierra Club Outings webinar on Saturday, May 23 from 9-11am (EST). The Sierra Club is working to re-start their Outings program for military veterans and their families in the NYC area. They don't know yet when that will be, or what the program will look like, but they are working with leaders in the field of outdoor and adventure education across the country to figure that out.

All are welcome to attend, even those of you who just want to learn about the outings program. Register here.

This 2-hour webinar will provide you with an introduction to the Sierra Club and outings program. If becoming an Outings Leader is something you'd like to pursue, this webinar will prepare you to complete the outdoor education program when they are able to host in-person training again. If you are unsure about becoming an Outings Leader, no worries, you are still welcome to join. There is no cost or commitment needed to attend.
The Sierra Club has been leading safe and enjoyable wilderness adventures for over 125 years. The outdoor education program prepares volunteers and members of partner organizations to be successful Outings Leaders. They train participants how to plan and lead equitable and inclusive outings as part of the Sierra Club’s vast network of community based outing programs. Training is designed to establish and build competencies in trip planning and logistics, safety planning and risk management, outdoor leadership, and environmental education. For those working with veterans and their families, they include supplemental training on understanding the veteran community, mindfulness, and group process.
