This Sunday, join us for a ruck march that builds community and focuses awareness on the crisis of veteran suicide. It takes all of us to get involved, reach out to veterans, demand better policies and resources, and work together to stop the current epidemic of 22+ veterans--mostly from older generations--who are taking their own lives each and every day in this country.
WHAT: VEThack March to End Veteran Suicide
MEET: 1-1:45 pm at Columbus Circle near the USS Maine monument
BRING: A military ruck or civilian backpack with 30 pounds--or whatever you feel comfortable with. No ruck is required--you can just walk if you'd like.
WEAR: Boots and fatigues if you'd like--plus we plan to have NYC Veterans Alliance t-shirts on site for members who've already signed up, or members who join on site.
Many great organizations supporting veterans will be there, like Team RWB, Team Rubicon, The Mission Continues, GoRuck, Veterans on Wall Street, the Bob Woodruff Foundation, and others. Everyone--veteran, civilian, children, pets (on leashes)--is welcome. This is a great community-building event and visibility for organizations. Because in the end, it is up to us and the organizations we take part in to end veteran suicide.
We'd be honored if you would wear your NYC Veterans Alliance t-shirt and march with us.
At 2 pm, the presentation and guest speakers will start, then we all will march a 3.61 mile route around the upper west side. Following the march, there will be an optional barbecue hosted by the NYPD 20th Precinct, and a bar crawl.
Please RSVP below if you'll march with us.
See you there!
