The Veterans Mental Health Coalition of NYC offers a Mental Health First Aid Training for Veterans on June 26, 9am-5pm.
More than half of service members returning to civilian life in New York State have psychological injuries. Only one-third seek treatment because housing, employment, legal services, and other non-mental heath resources are at the top of their priority list. As a result, a majority of Veterans who are suffering from behavioral health disorders are seeing non-mental health providers.
The National Council for Behavioral Health has updated the training to include substance use. This new 8-hour training gives you the skills you need to make a difference. Join other non-mental health providers who recognize the important role they play as gatekeepers to mental health support for Veterans and their families.
