Dear MinorityVets Community,
The Equity, Inclusion, and Justice Summit is back for the third year and we're building our best event yet! The past two years have been a rollercoaster for many of us. Our equity has been challenged. Our inclusion has been challenged. The core of justice has been challenged. Each of us has felt a range of emotions including confusion, grief, and anxiety. But it’s time to remember our strength. To remind ourselves that equity, inclusion, and justice are not just words. They’re a way of life and at this year’s Summit, we are determined to build our roadmap back to joy.

We ARE the ones we've been waiting for
In her 1978 UN address, activist and poet, June Jordan said, "We are the one we have been waiting for." The phrase, part of the Poem for South African Women, recognized the 22nd anniversary of 40,000 women and children protesting South Africa's brutal apartheid. Jordan's poem is a recognition of all that was sacrificed in the fight against apartheid and has served as a rally cry for future generations of fighters. The words offer hope to those who are demoralized, disenfranchised, and, yet, still find ways to fight.
Minority veterans have served our country with honor and dignity, yet face systemic barriers to accessing earned benefits and are often left out of the narrative of the American Veteran. Join us as we delve into the most important issues that impact the minority veteran community and share our vision for how we move forward, collectively. We’ve been waiting for a brighter, more inclusive, veteran community. We’re stepping up to that responsibility.
The EIJ Summit is a two-day virtual experience like no other. The weekend will feature lectures, panels, fireside chats, lightning talks, live performances, and epic prizes! We’ll dive into the experiences of minority veterans who exist on the margins of the traditional veteran community and explore the intersections of race and ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and religion with the veteran identity. The EIJ Summit will also feature a hiring and resource fair where you can meet employers like Comcast, REI, and Boston Beer Company and access the benefits and services you need most! You won’t want to miss this Summit!
The entire virtual experience is open to veterans, service members, service providers, community partners, government employees, and more and is completely FREE to attend!
TELL US WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE
We want to hear from you on what you're looking forward to about this year's Summit and what community connection groups you want to see. Take a minute to give us what would make this year the best yet!
As always, thank you for being you, and thank you for being a part of Minority Veterans of America.
In Community,
The Team at Minority Vets
