On the 50th anniversary of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the nation’s workforce watchdog, concluded that “age discrimination remains a significant and costly problem for workers, their families and our economy.” In a separate 2018 AARP workplace survey, nearly 2 out of 3 workers ages 45 and older have seen or experienced age discrimination on the job.
Given the average age of a veteran is 58 years old, with the largest group of veterans between the ages of 45 and 64 still in their prime working years, you may unfortunately experience prejudice and discrimination when you are applying for jobs or seeking career advancement opportunities.
