MVA Black Joy as a Means of Resistance

Minority Veterans of America (MVA) will host Black Joy as a Means of Resistance on Saturday, February 19, 3pm EST.

Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history.  In light of this year's theme, "Black Health and Wellness" as chosen by President Biden, Minority Vets is hosting "Black Joy as a Means of Resistance."

Black joy as resistance is best explained by Mei-Ling Malone: “The whole idea of oppression is to keep people down. So, when people continue to shine and live fully, it is resistance in the context of our white supremacist world.” MVA will be sharing experiences, creating space, and celebrating joy within the Black community through conversations about mental health, alternative methods of healing, and financial freedom.
