Did you know that the photos of almost 1,200 service members from the state of New York who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam are missing from the "Wall of Faces" on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund's website? There is now a statewide Community Service project to address this and find a face for every name listed without a photo. This is a tremendous initiative and your help is needed for this project to be successful.
Here’s how you can help:
1. Visit www.vvmf.org/wall-of-faces
2. Click on the “advanced search” button
3. Enter your county name in the “county” box
4. Enter New York in the “state” box
5. Check the “does not have photo” box
6. Click submit.
Listings will appear for all service members without a photo. You might know a family member, friend, or classmate that knows this service member and can assist in finding a photo. The photo does not have to be a military photo. Anyone can submit a photo. Multiple photos can be submitted. Half of NYS’s missing photos are from New York county alone. Make sure to match the service member’s birthdate to verify the identity.
