SAGEVets screens The Perry Watkins Story on December 4, 2-4pm, followed by conversation. Perry J. Watkins was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1968. Watkins was openly gay from the day he was drafted and served for 15 years. He was discharged in 1982 for being gay, preventing him from receiving his military retirement pension. Watkins took his case to the United States Supreme Court, who ruled in his favor.
