SongwritingWith:Soldiers holds a weekend retreat May 13-15 for Veterans and active-duty service members from all branches to collaborate with professional songwriters to write songs based on military experiences and the return home. The resulting songs provide a unique bridge between the military and civilian communities, helping to build awareness of Veterans’ issues, needs, and strengths. In addition to songwriting, participants enjoy relaxation and additional creativity sessions in photography, visual arts, and more.
No musical experience necessary.
All participants, musicians, and staff stay at the retreat center (Fri evening through Sun afternoon). Accommodations and meals are provided.
Participants receive a CD of the songs, photo/lyric book, and DVD of the performances. All are registered with ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) as co-writers of their songs.
Songwriters for this retreat include program founder Darden Smith, James House, Jay Clementi, and Terry Radigan.
