Blue Star Families will host Soaring Through Summer: A Lesson on Raptors & Conservation, a virtual event that is part of the Blue Star Summer 2022 series, on Wednesday, July 13, 3pm EDT.
Join Blue Star Families and Earth Conservation Corps, a nonprofit youth development and environmental service organization located along the heavily polluted Anacostia River in the DC area, for an educational presentation on raptors and conservation. Together, you'll be answering questions like:
What is a raptor?
Why are raptors and other birds important?
Who are our raptors?
How can you help protect these and other creatures in your own neighborhood?
You won't want to miss this because there will also be a virtual meet-and-greet with one or more of the birds!

Blue Star Families will host Flickering, Flashing Fireflies!, a virtual event that is part of the Blue Star Summer 2022 series, on Wednesday, June 29, 3pm EDT.
Join Blue Star Families and the University of Nebraska State Museum scientists who study insects. These entomologists will guide us in our investigation of fireflies! We'll study these bright little insects' life cycle, take a close look at their body structure, and discover why they flash. There will be a mini glow worm activity during this virtual field trip. You'll receive details on what you need to bring after registering.

Blue Star Families will host Explore the Underwater World at Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, a virtual event that is part of the Blue Star Summer 2022 series, on Wednesday, July 27, 3pm EDT.
Go on a virtual exploration of Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, a special place with spectacular and unique resources such as coral reefs, shipwrecks, seagrass beds, and more than 6,000 species of marine life. Visitors to the sanctuary are encouraged to take advantage of the many recreational activities this amazing ecosystem offers, including world-class diving, swimming, snorkeling, and fishing.
The sanctuary is in place to protect these resources, but the ultimate protection hinges on you and other visitors taking simple steps to be good, thoughtful stewards of the environment. Join in to learn more!
Blue Star Summer 2022: Make Your Own Seed Paper
Blue Star Families will host Make Your Own Seed Paper, a virtual event that is part of the Blue Star Summer 2022 series, on Wednesday, July 20, 3pm EDT.
Join Blue Star Families and Julie Hoover from the Joint Polar Satellite System Program who will guide your family in making your own recycled paper embedded with seeds from home. Once you’ve finished your creation, you can plant it in soil, and seeds will appear in a few weeks. Materials needed will be sent upon registration.
Intrepid Access Family Program: Celebrations Aboard
Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum will host Celebrations Aboard, an Access Family Program at the Museum on Sunday, December 4th.
From ships and planes to submarines and even space shuttles, vessels of all types use navigation to find their way. Families will explore historic spaces and methods that people have used to navigate at sea and up high, and will make connections to how we find our way today.

The Intrepid Museum offers monthly programs for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. These programs take place on select Sundays during regular Museum hours. Families take a guided, interactive tour or virtual tour of the Museum and can participate in art-making activities that everyone can enjoy.
In 2022, Access Family Programs alternate each month between virtual and in-person programs. Virtual programs take place over Zoom and include at-home activity packets. In-person programs take place at the Museum, with a morning session for children and an afternoon session for teens and adults.

Virtual Intrepid Access Family Program: Sea, Air and Space Food
Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum will host Sea, Air and Space Food, a Virtual Access Family Program at the Museum on Sunday, September 18, 11am-12pm EDT.
Food is an important part of any travel experience. Learn about food on Intrepid, British Airways Concorde, and NASA space shuttles and determine for yourself which is the tastiest!
Registration will open in mid-August.
