The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance offers Free File to all New York State taxpayers who earned $73,000 or less in 2021.  Free File allows taxpayers to complete and submit their New York State income tax returns online for free.

Beginning July 15th, the IRS will begin monthly distributions of up to $300 per child as part of the expanded Child Tax Credit (CTC) created by the American Rescue Plan Act. Families can get half of the fully refundable credit—worth up to $3,600 per child (under age 6) or $3,000 per child (ages 6 to 17)—as monthly payments in 2021 and the other half as part of tax refunds in 2022.
